“Persistence is to the character of man as carbon is to steel.”
– Napoleon Hill
Today Sylvester Stallone is a worldwide movie star but he did not start out that way.
Stallone had a life long dream of being in the movies.
However Stallone faced many obstacles in his quest of becoming a movie star.
He was rejected repeatedly and told that he looked and sounded stupid.
Stallone persisted through thousands of no’s and a lack of money because of his strong desire to be in the movies.
Stallone got the idea for the movie “Rocky” while watching the Ali - Wepner fight. Ali was a far superior boxer than Wepner yet Wepner would not give up. He kept coming at Ali despite Ali being light years ahead in terms of boxing talent.
Stallone saw himself in Wepner and and later in the character Rocky. Rocky was a character who overcame overwhelming odds by way of hard work, persistence, and desire to defeat boxers with superior skills.
Stallone thought that creating the movie Rocky was a way that he could inspire thousands of ordinary people such as himself to pursue their desires and goals in life.
Stalone had such a strong desire to tell the Rocky Story by starring in his own movie that he risked everthing he had to achieve his goal.
Please view the video below and listen to the Stalone Story of Success as told by his friend Anthony Robbins.
While viewing this video ask yourself the following questions:
What one thing in your life would you persue if you knew there was no way to fail.
What goal would you persue if you had six months to live?
What one goal is so inspiring to you that you would be willing to fight for it despite criticism and rejection?
Remember with desire, action and persistence you can achieve your dreams.
To Your Success,
Paul A. Shope

My journalist friend Gerard Chuah published a motivational and inspirational book about Sylvester Stallone early this year. It’s entitled “In The Eye Of The Tiger” - Survival Principles From Sylvester Stallone’s Life and Films. It was well received by Bob Proctor, philosopher, author and coach, who described the book as “phenomenal”. The book was launched by Sylvester’s mother Jacqueline in Kuala Lumpur.

Very nice! To be honest autosuggestion, etc, wasn’twhat I got out of think and grow rich - it was persistence!
