Computer work is an art form, only better…Painters are limited by paint and sculptors are limited by clay. Computer programming is limited only by the limits of the imagination…There’s nothing you can’t do. - Randy Pausch
In our previous post we explained that Randy Pausch is dying yet he continues to give.
Pausch is one of the creators of a computer program for kids called “Alice.â€
Alice was designed to take a complicated subject matter – computer programming - and make it easy, fun and interesting to ensure that a child’s experience is met with [tag]success[/tag].
The beauty of “Alice” is that it shows students how exciting and creative computer science can be.
The program was designed to especially target teen girls because they have been under-represented in the field of computer programming in the past.
Alice is currently being used in many high schools and colleges to teach students programming and it has been proven to help raise grades, increase [tag]self-esteem[/tag] and keep kids interested in pursuing an [tag]education[/tag] in computer science.
You can help your kids succeed in this high tech world by downloading the free “Alice†program at: Alice.org
Below is a video that shows examples of how [tag]Alice[/tag] is used along with an interview that outlines some of the benefits of the program.
