Louise Hay is a living example of the power of The Law of Attraction and positive affirmations at work.

Today Hay frequents the Oprah show (she was on Oprah last Friday 6/28/08), drives a Rolls Royce and she is the owner of Hay House Publishing that publishes Law of Attraction and Personal Development books and audio books by Esther and Jerry Hicks, Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra as well as Hay’s own best selling books.

However, Hay did not start out only attracting positive things into her life.

In an interview with Mark Oppenheimer of The New York Times (May 2008) Louise Hay shared that she was born to a poor mother and a violent step father.

At age five Hay was raped by a neighbor.

At 15 Hay dropped out of high school without graduating and worked at menial jobs for years before becoming a fashion model.

Hay later married businessman Andrew Hay but 14 years later Hay was devastated when her husband left her for another woman.

When Hay was in her 50’s she became a Religious Science practitioner and she read a book entitled “The Game of Life and How to Play It” by Florence Scovel Shinn.

Hay credits “The Game of Life and How To Play It” and the works of Ernest Holmes for changing her life for the better.

The Game of Life is a classic law of attraction book filled with positive phrases and affirmations on how you can create your own path in life by changing your thoughts and attitude towards life.

Hay claims that she used positive affirmations to heal herself of cancer in the 1970’s.

Hay went on to write and publish “Heal Your Body” which later became You Can Heal Your Life (Gift Edition)published in 1984.

Hay’s book You Can Heal Your Life (Gift Edition) is still on the best seller list all these years later.
