Have you gotten Monk E Mail today?
Let me explain.
Yesterday I received an email from a friend of mine. When I opened it I was greeted by a hilarious looking animated monkey. The monkey was wearing a bad toupee and he had on dark sunglasses and he was wearing a suit and tie. The monkey delivered an email message to me with a distinct British accent.
It was hilarious.
The Monk-e-mail brightened my morning and I quickly shared it with my wife and two daughters. They loved it also and they in turn began creating their own monk e mail messages to send to their friends.
I think that Monk-e-mail would get the Seth Godin seal of approval.
Seth Godin is a popular internet author and marketer and he is the founder of the popular web 2.0 property known as Squidoo.com.
I am a fan of Godin and I have read his books Purple Cow, Small is The New Big, The Big Red Fez, The Idea Virus, The Dip and Meatball Sundae. All of Godin’s books are interesting and they offer insight into how to be a success in modern internet marketing.
You can benefit from Godin’s ideas whether you are a marketer or you have a cause or charitable message that you would like to spread to others.

In short Godin says that in order to spread your message it must be “remarkable.†By “remarkableâ€, Godin means that your message or product must be different enough for people to tell each other about it or “remark†about it.
The monk e mail campaign is both remarkable and viral and it implements what Godin refers to as Permission Marketing.
Godin believes that the days of being interrupted by commercials are in the past. Advertisements that try to get your attention by interrupting you (like TV or radio ads) are becoming less and less effective.
Marketing is much more effective when it is aimed at a specific group of people who are eager to give you “permission” to send them information.
The monk e mail campaign is a success because people love getting and sending monk-e-mail. In the process Career Builder is getting their message spread in a big way.
