Keep your eye on the ball but don’t forget about the game. In business and in life it is easy to get caught up with a detail or technical glitch and get distracted from completing the big picture.
This is often referred to as [tag]analysis paralysis[/tag].
This situation may be compared to taking a test in school and getting stuck on one problem. You become so concerned with solving the one single problem on the test that all of your time is consumed by it. The end result is that you make a poor grade on the overall test even though you knew most of the answers. The one problem that you focused on wasted your time, causing you to fail overall.
This same situation can occur in your business or your life.
Many great leaders in history are known for their ability to make quick decisions. Decision making is a skill that can be learned and developed and is a vital skill that is necessary to help you grow your business or improve your life.
The following is a list of seven steps to keep you  from getting stuck in business or life:
1. Take a break from a problem and refocus on the overall goal. Sometimes taking a short break such as looking out of a window or walking around or getting some exercise can give you a fresh perspective on things.
2. Ask yourself if the detail that you are stuck on may be better and more quickly solved by having someone else such as an expert attend to it.
3. Analyze your reasons for [tag]procrastination[/tag]. Focusing too much and too long on details may be your way of avoiding an inner fear of failure or success. Feelings of fear may be countered with feelings of courage. Ask yourself why you are procrastinating and address the answer honestly. Stopping procrastination can speed you to success in business.
4. Get the Ball Rolling. Don’t wait for the ideal time to do something because it may never come. Taking action creates motivation. The hardest part of beginning a task is starting it. Once you begin a task like exercising it is much easier to complete it.
5. Realize that nothing in life is perfect. Most things in life are a work in progress. Great paintings, books, poems, songs may seem perfect but somewhere along the line the creator had to make a stand and decide that the project is done and ready to present to the world. It is okay to create something that is not perfect. It is also okay for you to not be perfect. You are also a work in progress. Just do the best you can. Not the perfect you can.
6. Get the bulk of your business project up and going and deal with details later. Bugs and glitches can often be worked out, moved, manipulated, discussed, ironed out, deleted, solved by others or changed. 7. Visualize yourself completing your overall project. Remember to think big thoughts. Big thoughts crowd out smaller less significant thoughts. Also, imagine the feeling of joy that you will experience when you are making money because your project is up and running. Imagine happy customers paying you a lot of money for your unique services or products. An important key is [tag]visualization[/tag].
