One of the most popular terms or catch phrases on the internet today is the term [tag]Web 2.0[/tag]. If you are like me you are confused by the term because it is used in so many different contexts to mean so many different things.Â
I did some research to find out what the meaning of Web 2.0 actually is. According to [tag]Wikipedia[/tag] Web 2.0 is a phrase that was coined by O’Reilly Media in 2003 and was popularized at the first Web 2.0 conference in 2004.
According to Wikipedia Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services—such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies – which facilitate collaboration and sharing among users.Â
Ironically, the source of this definition is from Wikipedia which is itself a Web 2.0 type web site. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that gets its content from and is continually edited and updated by its users.Â
A website that uses Web 2.O can include any of the following technologies:
- [tag]Wiki Software[/tag]
- [tag]Folsonomies[/tag]
- [tag]RSS[/tag]
- Podcasting
- Video
- [tag]CSS[/tag]
- Ajax based CSS
- SOAP
- Open Source Software
- Rest or XML Web service API’s
- [tag]Social book marking[/tag]
- Weblog publishing
If you are interested in discovering how to best implement  Web 2.0 technology on your web site or blog to generate more traffic I have found a valuable resource that I would like to share with you.
The 2007 Authority Black Book is authored by Jack Humphrey a proven exert at using Web 2.0 technology to generate traffic to your web site or blog.Â
Be warned though that the Black Book is not a get rich scheme or a trick or temporary fix but rather a valuable resource that you will want to refer to continually to build a profitable and lasting home or internet business. Â
